Ronnie O’Sullivan 11/2 to play in the World Snooker Championship

Following the news that Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from the remainder of the 2012/2013 snooker season, Coral bookmakers have revised their betting on the World Championships in May, and make Judd Trump the 4-1 favourite to win, with John Higgins and Neil Robertson next at 7-1. O’Sullivan had been a 7-1 chance.

Despite today’s announcement, Coral are not convinced the defending world champion will not be seen again this season, and offer 7-1 on O’Sullivan to win the 2013 world title, with stakes returned if he doesn’t participate; he is 11-2 to turn up and play. He is also 9-1 to win the next tournament he plays in and just 4-1 not to play a single competitive match during the 2013/2014 season.

“It’s a shame that the Rocket will not be defending his crown, but as we have seen before, he does have a habit of changing his mind at the last minute,” Coral spokesman Gary Burton told BP.
