The top 16 players in the updated world rankings will qualify automatically for two of snooker's biggest televised tournaments, the UK Championship and the Masters, in addition to the German Masters.

Stuart Bingham and Martin Gould are both seeded for the first time, with Harrow cueist Gould set to make his debut in his home city in the Masters in January.

Crucible King Stephen Hendry sits in 21st place, meaning he will have to come through the qualifying rounds if he is to make the UK Championship; he could also miss the Masters for the first time since 1989.

Mark Selby will go into the prestigious events as number one seed, followed closely by Welshman Mark Williams.

Ronnie O'Sullivan slips to a new low position of 14th, narrowly holding onto his place in the world's elite and in need of a good run in a top TV event.

The Masters, often refered to as the biggest ranking event outside the World Championships, runs from January 15 to 22 at a new venue, the Alexandra Palace, with World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn relocating the venue after the roaring success it has brought to his other sport - darts.

The UK Championship will be played from December 3-11 at the York Barbican, which hosts the event for the first time since its recent refurbishment.

Tickets are now on sale for both events and the draw for both tournaments will take place shortly, with qualifiers for the UK to be held in November.

The German Masters runs from February 1-5 in Berlin. The top 64 in the new rankings will also qualify for the World Snooker Shoot-Out in Blackpool from January 27 to 29.

The revolution of the game continues under chairman Barry Hearn, with more ranking and live tournaments played than ever before.
