Exciting youngster Judd Trump opens up his 2011 Power Snooker Masters campaign against Londoner Martin Gould in Manchester this afternoon.

Trump has been tipped to go far in the unique event this weekend and faces methodical cueist Gould in his opener at Event City.

The new event features the world's top 16 players competing in a revolutionary version of the game, including a whole host of specially adapted rules.

The attacking nature of Trump's game has made him a big favourite with the Snooker faithful and he will be hoping to put on a fine display of potting to see off his first opponent today.

Gould reached the final of the PTC Finals event last year and has surged up the world rankings. He is likely to threaten Trump when in among the balls, which is important in this points-only event.

The pair met in the last 16 of the World Championships at the Crucible earlier this year, with Trump prevailing en route to the final.

Their latest encounter today is over a somewhat shorter and unique format, with the match lasting for a maximum of 30 minutes.

The bookmakers make Trump the favourite, priced at 2/5 with Bet365, with Gould at 7/4. 

The match begins at 3pm and will be streamed live in race to one frame under the 20 second shot clock rule. The player with the most points at the end of the 30 minutes wins.
