Betfred believe that Trump is a genuine contender for the World Snooker Championship title
Judd Trump is now 9/1 from 12/1 with the sponsors for the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship after storming into an 11-5 lead over Martin Gould in their second-round match.
The recent winner of the China Open, who knocked out defending champion Neil Robertson in the first round at the Crucible, needs just two more frames to reach the quarter-finals.
Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde told Bettingpro: “Trump is increasingly looking like a real contender for the title and impressed with the way he seized control of his match against Gould. Everything is falling for him at the moment and he will be a very dangerous opponent for anyone in this event.”
John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan, the two favourites for the title, have been trimmed again to 4/1 and 9/2 respectively, with the duo yet to begin their second-round matches.
Mark Williams remains unchanged at 11/2 after completing a 13-4 victory over Jamie Cope to become the first man into the quarter-finals.
Barry Hawkins leads 5-3 against Mark Allen and is 66/1 for the crown, while his opponent is still available at 16/1.
