John Higgins is favourite to land his fourth World Snooker Championship title, although can he stop the impressive Judd Trump at the Crucible?

15 days ago, thirty-two players descended on Sheffield to compete in the 2011 World Snooker Championship and two now remain. While many predicted that John Higgins would emerge out of a tricky half to take his place in the final, few expected to see the name of Judd Trump instead of Mark Selby, Ding Junhui or Neil Robertson.

Match odds
John Higgins is the 8/15 favourite with Betfred to win the 2011 World Snooker Championship final, with the Scot having triumphed in 1998, 2007 and 2009. The Wizard of Wishaw has beaten Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Williams to reach the last two and this will be his fifth final appearance.

Judd Trump is available at 6/4 with bet365 to follow up his China Open success with victory at the Crucible and the 21-year-old has taken the competition by storm ever since he knocked out reigning champion Neil Robertson on Day One. Trump demonstrated in his semi-final victory against Ding Junhui that he can hold his nerve on the big occasion.

We should also note that John Higgins has been involved in far tougher matches in this tournament than Judd Trump. Trump was an easy winner against Martin Gould and Graeme Dott, while Higgins has had to scrap hard to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Williams.

Handicap betting
The bookmakers are prepared to offer odds of 10/11 about Judd Trump with a +2.5 frame handicap and that means a winning bet if the Bristol-based player reaches sixteen frames before John Higgins manages eighteen frames.

However, there is a school of thought that Higgins might prove too strong for his inexperienced opponent, especially if Trump fails to make his traditional flying start. You can get 10/11 about John Higgins with a -2.5 frame handicap.

Frame betting
After a magnificent World Snooker Championship, it would be fitting if we were treated to an epic final and it largely depends on whether Judd Trump can make a fast start against one of the greatest players in modern snooker. If the 21-year-old can get his nose in front after the first session, he will have the belief to win the final. However, if Higgins gets a stranglehold on the game, it could be a comfortable win for the Scot.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Judd Trump to win 18-16
Judd Trump to win 18-15
