Leed Rhino sunk to new lows - Brian McClennan

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McClennan has admitted his side turned in another disappointing performance as they slipped to a second-succcessive Super League defeat at local rivals Wakefield on Sunday (Rhinos still 5/4 favourites win Super League in the outright market at Betfred).

The Rhinos were expected to get back to winning ways over the weekend but Danny Brough’s 16 points helped consign them to another loss following the recent reverse against Castleford.

“It’s disappointing we’ve come out on the wrong side, we let Wakefield get away from us too much,” McLennan admitted following the defeat.

The Rhinos meet Salford at Headingley Carnegie on Friday and will have improve if they are to begin to justify their status as Super League favourites.

However, despite the poor start, McClennan believes they have some positive things to build on in Sunday’s setback.

He added: “In the end we started to make some good progress in the fourth quarter.

“I liked some of the things we did, there are some positive signs.”
