Williams was lucky not be sent off during Australia’s 36-20 win over England at Wembley Stadium on Saturday when he appeared to try and remove Ben Westwood’s head from his shoulders.

The Kangaroo did not miss and the majority of the 42,000 plus crowd wanted him to be dismissed but referee Henry Perenara opted to place the incident on report.

Williams decided to accept the charge and will now miss the game against Wales on Sunday in Wrexham. It was doubtful that Williams would have played against the Welsh anyway with Tim Sheens expected to rotate his squad now Australia have already qualified for the final.

Australia remain firm favourites to win the competition and can be backed at 1/5 odds-on with Bet365.

The Kangaroos will be joined in the final by either New Zealand or England, who meet each other this Saturday at the KC Stadium in Hull.

The Kiwis are second favourites to win the Final at 11/2, while Steve McNamara’s England can be backed at 9/1.
