Jonny Wilkinson has slipped down the England pecking order and will not start against Wales

Toby Flood is more likely to start for England against Wales than Wilkinson according to Ladbrokes.

The bookmakers are offering a special match bet on who will start in the opening 6 Nations clash and it's currently Flood who holds favouritism over Wilkinson at 2/9. England's 2003 World Cup hero can be backed at 3/1 to line up for kick off.

England are the 15/8 favourites to win the championship from France at 9/4. Their opponents on the opening night Wales are 6/1.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro:

“Despite some solid performances for Toulon in the Heineken Cup Wilkinson is now down the pecking order and we fully expect Flood to start in the opening match. The Wales game ought to set the tone for the rest of the tournament and England need to win to justify their position as tournament favourites.”
