Despite defeat to New Zealand, England move ahead of disappointing Ireland in Six Nations betting

England are the new 2/1 favourites with Ladbrokes for the Six Nations after the opening round of Autumn internationals.

Despite a 10 point defeat to the All Blacks, England impressed the bookies with their resilience - providing sharp contrast to Ireland who failed to fire against a depleted Springboks at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland have been eased to a top-priced 33/1 with Ladbrokes to win the World Cup next year.

David Williams of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro:

"It seems like an eternity since England were favourites for the Six Nations but there was a lot to like about them at Twickenham.

"We were desperately disappointed with Ireland's failure at the new-look Aviva. It was one of the most lacklustre displays on home soil we've seen for a long time."

Wales have been eased a point to 6/1 for the Six Nations after their defeat to Australia in Cardiff once again exposed the lack of depth in the Welsh squad.
