Australia cruised to an eight-try victory over New Zealand in the Rugby League International Test as the Kangaroos head into the Four Nations in fine form.

The Kangaroos had the game won by half-time as they raced into a 26-0 lead in a half that saw the Kiwis fail to launch one decent attack.

Darren Lockyer, who was playing his last game of rugby league on Australian soil, was directing everything on the park and was an influential part in most of the Aussies five tries in the opening 40 minutes.

Newcastle Knights winger Akuila Uate and Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence both grabbed a first half brace, while new Knights signing Daruis Boyd also went over as they led 26-0.

After the break New Zealand did manage to cross the Australian line with Kevin Locke using his speed to break through and score following a great run from Russell Packer, but that was as good as it got for Stephen Kearney’s men.

The Kangaroos took offence to that and ran in a further three tries from Keith Galloway, Willie Tonga and Boyd to secure a 42-6 rout over the reigning World Champions and Four Nations winners.
