Wales moved into the driving seat to clinch a quarter-final place with a 12-try rout over Namibia in Pool D.

Wales were expected to secure a comfortable lead and that looked like the case when they raced into a 22-0 lead.

Tries from Scott Williams, Aled Brew and Toby Faletau and two conversion and a penalty from Stephen Jones saw Wales lead 22-0 after 18 minutes, but they seemed to take their foot off the gas and failed to add to their tally before the break.

Wales boss Warren Gatland must have reminded his team at the interval that needed a big score line to go ahead of Samoa in Pool D and with a chance of advancing.

And they did just that as they ran in nine tries in the second period to claim a bonus point win.

A second half brace from Scott Williams saw him pick up his first World Cup hat-trick, while George North (2), Gethin Jenkins, Jonathan Davies, Lee Byrne and Alun Wyn Jones all crossed over.

Namibia’s only response was a try from lock forward Heinz Kohl which was converted by Theuns Kotze.

A win for Wales in their final game against Fiji should see them set up a quarter-final appearance against Ireland.
