England interim manager Stuart Lancaster will hand debuts to three players when they kick-off their Six Nations campaign against Scotland on Saturday.

All the matches from the Six Nations are shown live on the BBC.

Number eight Phil Dowson and centres Brad Barritt and Owen Farrell will all start at Murrayfield, while Lancaster has also handed a start to Charlie Hodgson at fly-half in place of the injured Toby Flood.

There are only six survivors from the team that lost to France in the World Cup quarter-finals in New Zealand, while Chris Robshaw will skipper the team.

Second row Courtney Lawes is absent with a knee injury,  while centre Manu Tuilagi is sidelined by a hamstring problem.

England kick off their defence of their Six Nations crown against fierce rivals Scotland at Murrayfield and they are odds-on favourites to open up with a win.

Scotland will be without centre Joe Ansbro and prop forward Alasdair Dickinson for the visit of England on Saturday.

Ansbro is missing with a back injury he suffered playing for London Irish, while Dickinson had been ruled out with a troublesome shoulder problem.

These two last met in the group stages of the World Cup in New Zealand with England taking the spoils in an tough and bruising encounter.

Lancaster’s men are currently the 4/6 odds-on favourites with Ladbrokes to open up with a victory, while the Scots can be backed at 5/4 with the same firm to grab the points on home soil.

The hosts have been handed a three point start on the handicap market and punters can get on that at even money with Bet365.

Former rugby league player Chris Ashton is the bookies favourite to grab the opening try of the game and he can be backed at 10/1 with Sportingbet, while fellow winger David Strettle is on offer at 11/1 with William Hill.

Scotland can be very dangerous in attack and Max Evans (11/1) and Sean Lamont (16/1 both Bet365) look capable of hurting England in the opening stages.

Scotland play host to England in the Six Nations at Murrayfield on Saturday, February 4 at 1700 GMT.
