Cambridge caused an upset in the 2012 Boat Race but Oxford are the early favourites to win next year's renewal.

Oxford University are the favourites to win the 2013 Boat Race according to Ladbrokes.

The 158th race between the Dark and Light Blues was full of high drama, and after the unexpected restart and the clash that saw an Oxford lose a blade, Cambridge went onto claim victory comfortably - however the bookies believe Oxford will fight back next year and installed them as the 4/6 favourites.

Cambridge began the race as the 7/4 underdogs and were the 8/1 outsiders to win by 3 lengths or more which leaves the Light Blues chalked up with an early price of 11/10 for back-to-back titles.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: 

"Cambridge defied the odds in one of the most controversial boat races ever, but we're anticipating the Dark Blues to bounce back bigger and better next year."

She added: "We all wish Alex Woods well."
