A total of 24 horses have been left in the totesport Trophy at the latest declaration stage and, as expected, top-weight Overturn has been taken out of the race which leaves both Salden Licht and Solix carrying 11st 12lb.

The latter had been available at 16/1 with the sponsors this time last week but significant support over the past seven days has seen the five-year-old’s odds tumble and Nicky Henderson’s gelding has been cut yet again this morning at head the market to 6/1 (from 7/1).

“The gamble on Solix has been quite remarkable when you consider that the horse hasn’t even set foot on a racecourse in this country but the sheer weight of support over the past seven days suggests that a huge run is expected this weekend,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

The Alan King-trained pair of Salden Licht and Walkon are next in the market at 8/1 though a decision on the participation of the latter will be made later in the week. Alan King is 7/2 to train the winner having left four in the race with Iolith and The Betchworth Kid making up the quartet. Nicky Henderson also has Soldatino and Eradicate left in and is a 4/1 shot to train the winner.

Make A Stand was the last horse to go on and complete the totesport Trophy/Champion Hurdle double back in 1997 and the sponsors make it a 16/1 shot that the winner goes on to win the two-mile championship at Cheltenham in March.
