Yeats is 5/2 with Betfred to win next year’s Gold Cup after romping his way to a hat-trick of victories and landing a huge gamble in the process.

Aidan O’Brien’s seven-year-old once again proved himself the top stayer in Europe when forging clear from a brave Geordieland to score at 11/8.

“The horse is a phenomenon amongst stayers and just seems to be getting better and better with age,” said Betfred spokesman Dave Metcalf. “If he does come back again next year to try and make it an unprecedented four wins on the bounce it would take a brave man to bet against him doing it and 5/2 will look huge if he makes the line-up.”
