The confirmation that super-stayer Yeats is to stay in training to attempt an historic fourth Ascot Gold Cup win, has prompted bookmakers William Hill to quote the star as a 5-2 chance to conquer Ascot once again.

Yeats will attempt to become the only horse in history to win four successive Gold Cups, having this year equalled the number of victories by Francois Boutin’s Sagaro back in the mid-Seventies.

Whilst Aidan O’Brien is looking towards next season for Yeats, his quest to break Bobby Frankel’s World Record is still ongoing. Having been as short as 2-9, Hills now offer 8-1 that O’Brien manages to achieve the magical 26 Group/Grade One wins. With the target looking more difficult as the races tick by, Hills also offer 4-1 that O’Brien equals the record of 25.

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for Hills, said: ‘’With Ireland’s turf season ending this weekend, O’Brien will have to delve deep into the International race programme book to find suitable targets in Europe, Asia, and beyond. Just two months ago, he appeared to be travelling on the bridle for the record, but it’s going to be a hard-task to achieve it now.’’
