Sir Michael Stoute’s Workforce has earned quotes of 20/1 for the Derby and 25/1 for the 2000 Guineas after running out an impressive winner of a 7f maiden at Goodwood today.
The son of King’s Best looked big and strong on his debut and after being slow into his stride, the Khalid Abdullah-owned prospect made up considerable ground down the straight and won by six lengths.
Rider Ryan Moore said: "He felt nice. I wouldn't say it was the strongest Goodwood maiden, but he's done it very well. He's very straightforward and, all being well, he'll make up into a nice three-year-old."
David Williams of Ladbrokes was equally as impressed, saying: "Workforce looks like a potential star in the making. As debuts go that was mighty impressive. The manner in which he finished his race coupled with his breeding suggests races such as the Derby could well be within his reach if he improves again and we think Sir Michael Stoute has another hot horse on his hands."
