Waseet is unlikely to see a racecourse again this year after his run at Ascot on Saturday.

The Sandown maiden winner showed that he was up to jumping in class to Group 2 standard over the weekend and ran creditably in defeat behind Aidan O’Brien’s surprise winner Joshua Tree.

Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, needs to discuss the horse’s future with connections, but feels it would be beneficial for the juvenile if he were to have a break.

"It was a very good run and we were delighted with that," said Gold.

"It's too early to say anything for definite but I would guess we'll put him away now.

"We'll just have to see what John Dunlop says and if he thinks he's in top form then we have the option to go again, but I think that will be it for the year.

"He's not a huge horse by any means, but he's certainly got enough scope to go on next year."

Waseet is 40/1 (Bet365) to land to Investec Derby in 2010, a race he could possibly be aimed at.
