Good to Firm‘ ground is forecast for Brighton on Tuesday afternoon when the south-coast circuit stages a competitive seven-race card. 

The first race is due off at 215.

Race 1 (Brighton 215) – This is a tough four-runner affair in which we’ve decided to trust Mark Johnston’s newcomer House of Orange to be fit enough to make the long journey worthwhile. James Tate’s horses are also running well and his Mirsaale shaped with plenty of promise on his bow at HQ.

Race 2 (Brighton 245) – With Clive Cox’s horses going so well at present his recent C&D winner Little Rainbow has to have a leading chance here. Against mainly exposed rivals we rate the three-year-old a banker selection.

Race 3 (Brighton 315) – Ostentation and Welsh Nayber have both performed with plenty of credit on this undulating circuit in the past and are happily relied on to see us through to the fourth leg.

Race 4 (Brighton 345) – Both Ukrainian and Between Us won by wide margins last time out and come into this race with progressive profiles. It will be a surprise if one or both of the pair doesn’t finish in the first two.

Race 5 (Brighton 415) – Doc Hill could gain his revenge on Waspy for his close third to George Baker’s horse last time out. Another with a big chance in a trappy affair is The New Black, who will relish the return to faster underfoot conditions.

Race 6 (Brighton 445) – Just a modest handicap for the final leg of the bet and finding the winner won’t be easy. We row in with the veteran Memphis Man and the much younger and possibly underrated Russian Bullet.
