Friday's Betfred Mile will be the big race for punters on Friday at Glorious Goodwood, and this year's heat looks like being as competitive as ever with 43 competitors standing their ground at the five-day stage.

Ibtahaj and Bonnie Brae were the most notable absentees as warm favourite Trade Commissioner and last year's victor Boom And Bust head the remaining entries for the one mile heritage handicap.

Hat-trick seeking Trade Commissioner, 4/1 favourite with sponsors Betfred for the £100,000 contest, has been allotted 9st 5lb for the ultra-competitive handicap.

John Gosden’s charge followed a facile success in a Salisbury handicap on June 27 with a cosy three-quarter length victory over Vainglory (25-1 with Paddypower) at Sandown on July 7.

Prince Of Johanne (12-1 with Betvictor) could bid to complete an unprecedented treble for trainer Tom Tate, having captured the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

Godolphin have four entries left in the field headed by Invisible Man who was fifth in the Hunt Cup behind Prince Of Johanne, and Con Artist who was fourth in the Sandown handicap won by Trade Commissioner.

Marcus Tregoning's Boom And Bust, winner here under Hayley Turner last year, has only run once this year having been held up in his preparation.

That run was also in the Hunt Cup, though he was never any better than mid-division, and with only five pound extra this time around Boom And Bust will surely be popular with punters again.

Tregoning has another good chance with three-year-old Bronze Angel, while last week's Betfair International Stakes winner Field Of Dream could bid for a huge handicap double for Jamie Osborne.
