Psycho has been cut to 8/1 favourite (from 12/1) for the totesport Trophy by the sponsors after finishing runner-up to Penny's Bill in the Pierse Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday.
 
Tony Martin's gelding had been well-backed for the feature race in Ireland beforehand but was just unable to get to the winner who held off the late challenge of the 11/2 favourite.
 
'Psycho can be viewed as an unlucky loser of the Pierse Hurdle as he surely would have won had Newmill ran and kept the eventual winner Penny's Bill out of the handicap,' said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
 
'Consequently, he would have to be of interest if turning out for the totesport Trophy at Newbury, even though the handicapper may take a dim view of this run when the weights come out.'
 
Elsewhere, Schindlers Hunt was cut to 16/1 (from 33s) for the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham after scoring a four length victory in the Leopardstown Handicap Chase for Dessie Hughes.
