Solix, a Grade 3 winning hurdler at Auteuil last season, has been well backed with Sky Bet into 12/1 from 16s to make an audacious winning British debut in the Totesport Trophy at Newbury on Saturday, February 12th.

The French import has left Guy Cherel after leading owner Michael Buckley flashed his chequebook to join Nicky Henderson, whose record in the Grade 3 contest is second to none having saddled the winner no fewer than four times since 1998.
One of five Henderson entries, the five-year-old is now only two points bigger in the betting than the stable's widely perceived no.1 and last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner Soldatino, with both still left in the Champion Hurdle.
Solix’s smart form in France could also see him head the weights with Salden Licht if lining up in Europe’s richest 2m handicap hurdle on Saturday week as the weights will rise 11lb if, as expected, Overturn comes out.
Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: ‘Solix will need to be top class to defy topweight off a mark of 152 but he has been left in the Champion Hurdle by Nicky Henderson and that is a huge compliment taking into account stable strength in the division.’
‘The defending champion Hurdler Binocular and useful understudy Oscar Whisky also reside at Seven Barrows, so this market support is warm money we respect greatly.’
Past winners of the The Totesport Trophy include Persian War and Make A Stand who went on to take Champion Hurdle honours next time, while Rooster Booster and Punjabi could only finish second at Newbury before going one better in the Hurdling showpiece at the Festival.
