We are three weeks into the 2010 Dubai Carnival and the new Meydan racecourse has provided horse racing fanatics with the perfect platform for some exhilarating action from the UAE.

There have been some impressive performances since the Carnival began, notably Gloria de Campeao rewarding  his backers at odds of 12/1 in the first round of the Al Maktoum Challenge on the opening night and Alexandros who held off the talented Crowded House in the Group 3 Al Rashidiya two weeks ago.

Antepost punters are beginning to turn their attention to the Dubai World Cup on Saturday 27th March and William Hill have Gio Ponti as their 4/1 market leader for the world’s richest race.  He has not been seen since he chased home Zenyatta in the Breeders’ Cup Classic while classy French individual Vision D’Etat is next in the betting at 6/1.

British punters will be focusing on Twice Over at odds of 7/1 (William Hill) after Presvis made a poor start to this year’s Carnival for trainer Luca Cumani and with the likes of Mawatheeq, Vodka, Crowded House and Eagle mountain all eyeing possible World Cup glory, the race is as wide open as William Hill’s market would suggest.
