It has become apparent to Racingbase.com that the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes runner-up Tartan Bearer will miss the remainder of the season with an injury.

After being lined up to tackle Sea The Stars and Mastercraftsman in the Juddmonte International at York earlier in the week, he was ruled out of the race the night before due to lameness.

Now it has come to the surface that the runner-up in both last season's Derby and this year's Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, will miss races such as the Irish Champion Stakes and the Newmarket equivalent due to injury.

"He's out for the year," said Peter Reynolds, racing manager to the owners, Ballymacoll Stud.

"The injury is not life-threatening but we'll just have to see how he gets on. We've had a wonderful year so we can't complain too much."
