Southwell is the preferred destination for Sunday's placepot and Timeform give their expert tips ahead of the competitive race card.
12:50 - A weak event to kick off proceedings, which presents a good opportunity for Canadian Danehill to end a losing run that spans over two years. He put up his best effort for some time when third at Wolverhampton last month, and a repeat of that run should see him go close. It is worth taking on Bird Dog, as his win in a poor maiden last month increasingly seems like a one-off effort. The Magic of Rio is, admittedly, not the force of old, but he did show speed for a long way on debut for John Balding at this track, which gives hope of a mini-revival.
13:20 - A tricky mile handicap makes up the second leg, and it is advisable to keep it simple by selecting both Ace Master and Arkaim. They finished first and second respectively over course and distance late last month, and it would a surprise to see them both finish out of the places.
13:50 - Newport Arch sprang a surprise to land a Newcastle maiden in August 2010, and almost repeated the does at today's track on his latest start; if building on that, he has every chance. Hunters Belt has not been seen on the Flat since finishing third at the course over a year ago, but he comes into this on the back of a decent fourth over hurdles and has respectable form on the level off a similar sort of mark.
14:20 - In the quest to keep lines in check, Ay Tay Tate rates as our first banker of the day. He was particularly disappointing last time, dropping out tamely after being granted the lead, but that can be excused as it was his first attempt at two miles. The drop in trip today ought to be in his favour, and he can quickly make amends.
14:50 - Ishiamiracle looked a completely different beast when dropped back to a sprint trip last time, readily making all under today's jockey. The additional furlong will be present no issues, and she has an obvious chance of gaining her second win.
15:20 - There looks to be plenty of pace horses in the final leg, so we are going to take one of them and one that is usually held up. Babich Bay, from a good draw in stall one, goes in as our pace horse, and he has not been disgraced on either start on the fibresand. He opened his account in tremendous style when slamming his rivals on soft ground at Hamilton in September and he has decent claims of gaining his second career win. Our hold-up horse is going to be Avonrose, for whom a return to sprinting combined with a frenetic gallop could work the oracle. Her latest run wasn't the best, but there had been glimmers of hope on a couple of her previous starts, and one of her four wins did come at Southwell.
