Sprinter Sacre has been cut to 6/1 (from 8/1) by Betfred for the Arkle Chase at Cheltenham following a successful debut over fences at Doncaster this afternoon.

Third behind Al Ferof in last season’s Supreme Novices’ at the Festival, Nicky Henderson’s gelding impressed with his slick jumping and is now second in Betfred's betting for the two mile novice chase behind 7/2 favourite Peddlers Cross.

"Time will probably tell that Sprinter Sacre beat trees on his debut over fences at Doncaster but his jumping was very impressive and he looks a credible threat to Arkle favourite Peddlers Cross on this evidence," Betfred spokesman George Primarolo explained to Bettingpro.

Betfred have also opened their book on Sunday’s John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown and make Rubi Light the 9/4 favourite ahead of the 2009 winner Joncol who is chalked up at 5/2.
