William Hill have priced up Saturday's Shergar Cup at Ascot and the firm make the Rest Of The World their 5/2 favourites.
Great Britain has been gunning for Olympic gold but it’s silver the jockeys will be seeking on Saturday when they take part in the Shergar Cup at Ascot.
Rest Of World captain Yutaka Take is 6-1 favourite with
William Hill to take the ‘Silver Saddle’ leading rider award, while his team are 5-2 favourites to win outright.
Three of the most successful female jockeys of all time – Chantal Sutherland, Hayley Turner, and Emma-Jayne Wilson - line-up as part of the first all-female team in the history of the competition, and girls 11-4 with Hills to see success. The firm offer a further 11-4 for any of the girls to secure the Silver Saddle award.
GB and Ireland will for the first time combine to make a team, captained by Kieren Fallon, and are priced at 11-4, with Europe also an 11-4 chance.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said “Team GB have been racking up the Olympic medals and Great Britain and Ireland can hopefully continue the winning thread at the Ascot extravaganza, but all-girl team, captained by Hayley Turner, is sure to be a force to be reckoned with in their first Shergar showdown.”
The six races, all handicaps, are limited to 10 runners with either two or three horses racing for each team (this will balance itself out over the course of the afternoon), and points are awarded on a 15, 10, 7, 5, 3 basis to the first five horses home (non runners score 4 points).
Subject to full fields, each jockey has five rides and the team with the highest total after the sixth race lifts the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup while the jockey with the highest individual points tally wins the Silver Saddle.
