Ryan Moore 11/1 for Flat Jockeys' Title (Off Scratch)

Ryan Moore is 11/1 with Skybet for the flat jockeys' title, but there's a catch. Last year's champion jockey has to give his rivals a minimum of 50 winners when the turf season begins on March 28th, and as many as 110 winners to the likes of Frankie Dettori and Hayley Turner.

That's a fair few more than last season when this market resulted in a five-figure payout for Skybet, who were forced to cut Sir Michael Stoute's stable jockey into 7/1 from 11/1 after a constant stream of bets before the season started. For the record, Moore ended last season on 186 winners, with his nearest rivals Richard Hughes (+50 winners) and Jamie Spencer (+15) on 117 and 113 respectively. As a result, the Harrogate-based outfit have altered this year's handicap accordingly in the hope of avoiding another hefty payout.

Seb Sanders, who shared the jockey's title with Jamie Spencer on 190 winners in 2007, when Moore had his season shortened through injury, has been given a start of 75 on the handicap, which is a massive increase of 65 on last year's handicap of +10. The jockey, who is due back in action on the all-weather next week for the first time since breaking his leg at Chester last summer, is "as hungry as ever for winners" according to his agent Keith Bradley, so he's sure to give his backers a good run for their money.

Tom Eaves has been in great demand over the winter with 24 winners and counting chalked-up on the all-weather. Unfortunately, these won't count towards the Flat Jockeys' title (only those between March 28th and November 7th count), but his productive winter will have got him noticed by plenty of trainers and he must have a great chance of beating his best-ever yearly tally of 87, which he has achieved in two of the last three seasons. In which case, his 105 winner handicap start could well turn out to be a tad generous.

Skybet's Flat Jockeys' Championship Handicap Betting:

Ryan Moore (Scratch) 11/1
Jamie Spencer (+50) 11/1
Richard Hughes (+65) 11/1
Seb Sanders (+75) 9/1
Neil Callan (+75) 11/1
Paul Hanagan (+90) 11/1
Chris Caitlin (+100) 11/1
Jim Crowley (+100) 11/1
Jimmy Fortune (+100) 11/1
Darryl Holland (+105) 11/1
Martin Dwyer (+105) 11/1
Dane O'Neil (+105) 12/1
Tom Eaves (+105) 9/1
Hayley Turner (+110) 14/1
Frankie Dettori (+110) 11/1

Only these count / includes all British races from 28th March until 7th November.
