William Hill were celebrating Frankie Dettori's win on Rewilding on Wednesday as the bookmakers claimed their first big win of the meeting.
Royal Ascot race goers bore witness to an almighty turnaround at the Berkshire track this afternoon after Rewilding overthrew the odds-on So You Think – billed as the next wonderhorse of British Racing - in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

William Hill report that 95% of turnover went the way of the favourite in the afternoon’s highlight with the betting nation expecting a run-out success for the Aidan O’Brien-trained Australian import. With Rewilding scoring a shock victory, the bulk of the bounty stayed with the bookies this time, easing the wounds inflicted by punters in Tuesday’s bloodbath.
Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, told Bettingpro:
"So often the villain for the bookies Frankie Dettori has now given us a bit of CPR! The defeat of So You Think has gifted the bookies with one of the best Royal Ascot results since the new stand was built.’’
Rewilding was immediately cut by William Hill for next month’s King George now standing as the 7-2 (from 12-1) third-favourite. Hills also trimmed the Godolphin homebred to 7-1 (from 16-1) for France’s autumn highlight the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe where he sits behind 4-1 joint-favourites Workforce and Derby winner Pour Moi.
So You Think was eased to 4-1 from 9-4 for the King George, and to 7-1 from 5-1 for the Arc.
