Fame and Glory looks to be the pick of the bets on Day Three at Royal Ascot

This year's Royal Ascot festival has already captured the imaginations of both racing fans and newcomers alike, with the likes of Frankel and Canford Cliffs producing stunning wins on the opening day. Wednesday was no different, with the story of the day Frankie Dettori's phenomenal performance on Rewilding, with Prince Khalid Abdullah's horse overthrowing huge favourite So You Think in a stunning Prince of Wales Stakes.

The action doesn't stop, with Thursday's card featuring some fantastic races and plenty of opportunities for punters to either continue their winning streaks, or to claw back some of their losses!

2.30 Norfolk Stakes

The day begins with the 2.30 Norfolk Stakes and there is a strong Irish presence in the race, with 12 of the 21 runners coming from the Emerald Isle. The pick of the bunch is Crown Dependency, which will be in the hands of the in-form Richard Hughes, who rode winners in the opener on both Tuesday and Wednesday. It is 8/1 at bet365 that he completes a remarkable treble but he will face stiff competition from two Transatlantic rivals.

American hope Bapak Chinta is the current market leaders, at 3/1 and he looked very impressive in his debut at Hamilton last month. He is a progressive sort and there is certainly scope for improvement but both he and Canadian rival Everyday Dave, who is being well-backed at 11/2 and could well go off favourite, may end up, like many this week, filling the places behind the Hannon horse.

3.45 Gold Cup

The main event on Ladies' Day is the 3.45 Gold Cup, which is a Group 1 race and looks to be a perfect opportunity for favourite backers to make a few quid on Fame and Glory. Aidan O'Brien's runner is a four times winner at this level and, although he is unproven at this long a trip, he is classiest horse in the field by a long way. He will have to fend off a strong challenge from Holberg and Duncan but 9/4, at Stan James, looks too good to turn down on the market leader.

4.25 Britannia Handicap

Picking a winner in the 4.25 Britannia Handicap looks a far more difficult proposition, with the favourite currently Sagramor at a staggering 8/1 (Stan James). He certainly has good claims, having won well at Haydock in his last start for Hughie Morrison but this is not a race to be backing favourites in. Instead, a chance is taken on Tropical Beat, at 14/1 with Paddy Power. John Gosden's runner was second behind Samurai Sword over the course and distance and is well treated by the handicapper. He will be fitted with blinkers for the first time and that could possibly by the difference and, with the Irish firm paying out each way on the first five finishers, he looks to be the value call.

Recommendations

2.30 - Crown Dependency (8/1, bet365)
3.45 - Fame and Glory (9/4, Stan James)
4.25 - Tropical Beat (14/1, Paddy Power)
