Nigel Twiston-Davies will saddle Roll Along and Ballyfitz in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday as the trainer attempts to land the staying handicap for only the second time.

The Naunton trainer won the famous race with King’s Road in 2000 and now Twiston-Davies will launch a two-pronged assault on the Newbury showpiece.

Ballyfitz will be saddled by Paddy Brennan and the horse will be looking to buil on his seasonal debut where he finished fourth in the Paddy Power Gold Cup.

Meanwhile, Roll Along will be partnered by Noel Fehily who was well below-par when he ran at Carlisle earlier in the month.

"Both are intended runners," said Twiston-Davies' assistant Carl Llewellyn.

"In the Paddy Power, Ballyfitz was flat out under pressure from a long way out and stayed on to finish fourth. He ran a hell of a race.

"With Roll Along nothing really came to light, but it was gluey ground.

"He reached for a few fences early on and maybe he got a bit disillusioned when he got stuck in the ground.

"He worked very well last Friday and has schooled well since. We are very happy with him."
