Mastercraftsman is a surprise runner in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot as five horses were declared to go to post for the big race.

Aidan O’Brien has left his multiple Group 1 winner in the field along with current favourite Rip Van Winkle as he looks to land Saturday’s feature.

Rip Van Winkle heads into the race on the back of an emphatic victory in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and officially rated the second best horse in the world behind old rival Sea The Stars, he will no doubt be many people’s idea of the winner.

His main stumbling block may be Delegator, Godolphin’s expensive recruit.  The winner of the Craven Stakes and Celebration Mile, he also has some high class form in the book behind Sea The Stars in the 2000 Guineas and he will be making his second start for the boys in blue.

William Haggas' Prix du Moulin winner Aqlaam is the sole four-year-old in the line-up, while the field is completed by Zacinto, the closest horse to Delegator in the Celebration Mile.

Punters will be able to watch all the action from Ascot live on Bet365.
