It may well be deep mid-winter with Christmas a mere six days away but they are thinking Derby entries down at champion trainer Richard Hannon's yard.

As punter's pal Hannon continues to enjoy all-weather success up and down the land, the yard reports they are expecting a batch of Sheikh Hamdam Al-Maktoum horses to arrive and become part of the team for the first time in 2012.

And they report that "there may even be a Derby winner among them for the following year!" The entries for the Epsom 2013 classic are out and include a couple of yearlings who are stabled at Hannon's headquarters.

One is named Meshardal - a German-bred Dubawi colt who was bought at the October sales. The Sheikh has won the Derby twice with Nashwaan (1989) and Erhaab (1994).

Camelot is 3/1 to win next year's Derby with bet365 while Parish Hall can be backed at 16/1, Wrote at 16/1 and Born To Sea at 20/1.

Meanwhile, Hayley Turner returns to the saddle tomorrow at Kempton Park after recovering from the broken ankle she sustained in August. She's aboard Brendan Powell's Copper Falls in the Win Thousands Of Sports Experiences At bluesq.com Nursery.

She then rides two for Conor Dore - Opus Maximus in the Bet And Watch At bluesq.com Handicap and Lucky Art in division two of the Bet At bluesq.com On Your Mobile Handicap.

Writing on her website, Turner said: "I'm very much looking forward to my first rides back on Tuesday.

"Conor is very close to reaching his target of 30 winners in a calendar year, a massive achievement from a chap who has little over 10 horses in training. I love riding for him, he really knows his stuff."
