Pontefract placepot selections – Sunday, June 24

Pontefract plays host to a seven-race card on Sunday, with the first event due off at 2.10.

The advance going at the West Yorkshire circuit is forecast ‘Soft’.

Race 1 (Pontefract 2.10) – Mollyvator ran well to be second on debut at York and granted normal progression, will be close to the money here. Also selected though is Balinka, third in the good York seller last time out.

Race 2 (Pontefract 2.40) – Wiseman’s Diamond goes really well here and has fine prospects of recording another course win. Along with the potential improver Whatsofunny, he is selected to see us through to the third leg.

Race 3 (Pontefract 3.10) – John Gosden and William Buick couldn’t be in better form and their Robemaker has a fine chance, despite the steadier of top weight. With trip and ground to suit, we rate him a banker selection.

Race 4 (Pontefract 3.40) – This must be one of the best races ever staged at Pontefract! If we forgive Brown Panther his dismal reappearance run in a quagmire at Chester, he has serious prospects today and is selected along with Jet Away, who handles the ground and is in the form of his life.

Race 5 (Pontefract 4.10) – L Frank Baum and Orsippus both stay well and handle the ground so in this serious stamina test are expected to prove good enough to keep the bet going for us.

Race 6 (Pontefract 4.40) – Mashaari’s close second to the smart Shantaram reads very well here and although only two places are up for grabs, we reckon Paul Hanagan’s mount is worthy of being our second banker selection.

Suggested Pontefract Placepot perm – 2×2x1×2x2×1 = 16 bets
