Mon Parrain has hardened at the head of the market for Saturday’s Paddy Power Gold Cup and Paul Nicholls’ gelding is now the 4/1 favourite (from 5/1) with Betfred.
 
The five-year-old made an impressive debut in this country at Sandown back in March and went off favourite for the John Smith’s Topham Chase at Aintree on the back of this victory. 

He finished second behind Always Waining that day but has been favourite for the Paddy Power Gold Cup ever since the market was formed and looks set to be yet another big race favourite for the champion trainer.
 
"Mon Parrain has been the horse on everyone’s lips since the market for the Paddy Power Gold Cup was formed and it would take a huge gamble on one of the other runners to usurp Paul Nicholls’ gelding as favourite," Betfred boss Fred Done explained to Bettingpro.
 
Last season’s Jewson Novices’ Chase runner-up Wishfull Thinking is next in the market at 7/1 with his Cheltenham conquerer Noble Prince an 11/1 shot alongside The Giant Bolster.
