Ladbrokes have trimmed Mawatheeq into 14/1 to win the Cambridgeshire after his impressive victory at Doncaster today.
Marcus Tregoning’s four-year-old bounced back to form after a disappointing run last time out to land the spoils in a competitive looking handicap and head of PR at Ladbrokes, David Williams, explained the reason behind almost halving the horses odds: "Mawatheeq impressed us on Town Moor but we're not convinced the Cambridgeshire is the race for Marcus Tregoning's horse and the price reflects it."
Meanwhile the firm were also impressed by the way in which Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Coordinated Cut went about his business when landing the opening race on the card, getting off the mark at the first attempt in his hot looking maiden. He has now been promoted to 16/1 outright favourite for next summer’s Investec Derby (from 25/1).
Williams explained: "All the vibes seemed to be right about Coordinated Cut. He justified his short odds on the day but has a long way to go before he justifies his Derby quotes after just one run.
"The 16/1 Epsom quote factors in the hype almost as much as anything we saw on the racecourse"
Looking more to the future, the firm also reacted to the big three standing their ground in the Ladbrokes.com Vincent O'Brien National Stakes and trimmed Aidan O’Brien’s Alfred Nobel into 5/4 from 2/1.
Williams continued: "We're thrilled that Alfred Nobel now looks likely to be taken on by Kingsfort and Chabal. The Ladbrokes.com National Stakes looks certain to have a big bearing on Classic markets next year."
