The ante-post gamble on Mastercraftsman for the 2,000 Guineas continued to gather pace today with Coral  forced to cut his odds to 5/1 clear favourite from 6/1, having been 8/1 three days ago.

In stark contrast Mastercraftsman's stablemate Rip Van Winkle has been eased to 8/1 from 6/1.

"The size and the timing of this plunge on Mastercraftsman is deeply significant and must surely point to him being Aidan O'Brien's leading contender for a Classic that he has dominated in recent years," said Coral spokesman Simon Clare.

"In total contrast we can't give Rip Van Winkle away and the vibes are extremely negative about his chances of 2,000 Guineas glory," added Clare.
