Hurricane Fly put up another fantastic display at Leopardstown on Wednesday afternoon as the Champion Hurdle favourite coasted to victory in the Grade One paddypower.com iPhone App Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Willie Mullins’ talented hurdler was ridden to perfection by jockey Paul Townend who had the French import tracking the pace set by Luska Lad, with Solwhit close up in third for much of the contest.

However, the result never looked in doubt as the 8/11 favourite swooped to the head of affairs with minimum fuss.

Solwhit battled to second place but couldn’t cope with the winner and a delighted Mullins explained: "I thought the run at Fairyhouse took a good bit out of him and was afraid that he was a little bit flat coming here.

"But he had to take his chance, and once again he showed what a turn of foot he has.  There is nothing set in stone but I would like to get three runs into him before Cheltenham, and I'd say he'll come back here for the Irish Champion Hurdle next month."
