Ladbrokes have decided to ignore Freddie Head’s bullish comments about his wonderfilly Goldikova ahead of this weekend’s Breeders’ Cup Mile.
The trainer has spoken publicly about his delight at Goldikova’s condition saying it is the best he has ever had the filly but that has not been enough for Ladbrokes to shorten her odds for Santa Anita success.
Goldikova is drawn in ‘coffin box’ 11 for the big race and Hayley O’Connor of Ladbrokes explained: “While Head's confidence in Goldikova has not waivered, her draw planted doubts in our mind so we have held our price of 6/4 . Considering this is a filly with six group ones under her belt, there is definitely value here for punters"
Meanwhile, the firm are also standing their ground on the 5/2 they have been offering about Mastercraftsman landing the Dirt Mile. O’Connor continued to explain: "We have seen strong support in the market for the Ballydoyle favourite but he remains at 5/2. Although his draw is favourable, it has been a tough campaign for Mastercraftsman this year"
