With Ladbrokes offering all new customers a free £50 bet on the action, it really could be time to get your bets on.Paul Nicholls is the trainer to keep an eye on at the top of the betting but there is some brilliant each-way value further down the order. And it’s the Brian Ellison-trained Abergavenny who really catches the eye heading into the race. The four year-old would be the youngest winner of the race since it was relocated to Ascot back in 2001 but he has been in very decent hurdle form this year and is well worth consideration for an each-way punt.He won over the hurdles at Hereford, Wetherby and Sedgefield in the spring before a disappointing few races on the flat.He returned to the hurdles for his last race in November at Cheltenham and was solid in his third place finish behind Olofi and Brampour – who is currently out at 10/1 to win the Ladbroke Hurdle this weekend. With the likes of Prospect Wells continuing to attract plenty of attention in the betting and getting cut to 7/2, victory may be beyond Abergavenny but he shouldn’t be ruled out of a finishing in the top four.He may have drifted out to 12/1 from the 10/1 he was originally installed at but, after being raced sparingly in recent months and never finishing outside of the top three in his four hurdle outings, he looks well worth an each-way punt.
