The Christmas period is rapidly approaching and that can only mean one thing, the 2011 King George VI Chase at Kempton is upon us.

Win a pair of tickets to the 2011 King George meeting at Kempton as we give continue to give away tickets for the world famous meeting here.

Once again, the sport’s leading horses will be heading to Kempton on Boxing Day as they look to go to war over three miles in the Grade One showpiece and though the King George VI Chase odds would suggest Nicky Henderson’s Long Run has the race in the bag, that is far from the case and there are a whole host of chasers with realistic claims in the famous race.

2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run has always looked a superstar since he arrived from France, but he still has chinks in his armour and Paul Nicholls’ Kauto Star ruthlessly exposed flaws in the champion when he powered to a sensational success in the Betfair Chase at Haydock last month.

After that race, Nicholls was eyeing another crack at the King George for his legendary inmate and it would be a remarkable achievement by trainer and horse if Kauto Star could win his fifth different renewal of the race and get his hands back on his crown.

According to some of the sport's leading pundits, both could be beaten in the Christmas cracker and it looks like Master Minded will be massively popular on the day.  His victory in the Amlin 1965 Chase at Ascot last time out proved that he is firmly on course for the race and if his stamina lasts over three miles, his slick jumping should ensure he is there or thereabouts in approaching the last on the 26th December.

With the likes of Captain Chris, Somersby, Noland and Kauto Stone all still in the mix for the race as well, it looks set to be an absolute thriller and you don’t have to miss any of the action.  Once they cross the line in the contest, simply tune into a King George VI Chase replay and sit back and relax as National Hunt’s finest horses battle it out over eighteen unforgiving fences.
