Hurricane Fly drifts in Champion Hurdle market

Hurricane Fly is a major doubt for the 2010 Champion Hurdle.

Hurricane Fly appears to have stabilised at the 24.0 mark on Betfair for the Champion Hurdle following news last night that there is a "major doubt" about him missing the race.

He drifted to a market-high of 48.0 immediately after a statement from trainer Willie Mullins that "he has a sprained suspensory ligament and Leopardstown is definitely out of the question. There also has to be a major doubt about him making the Champion Hurdle."

The market re-shuffle has done little to clarify the Champion Hurdle picture though, with Zaynar, Binocular and Solwhit the 6.6 co-favourites on Betfair.

Solwhit is into 2.7 favourite on Betfair for the December Christmas Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown on December 29, following Hurricane Fly's withdrawal from the race.

Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "Given that Hurricane Fly was about a 7.0 chance before the news of his injury broke, the Betfair betting suggests he is about a 4.0 chance to get to Cheltenham."
