Nicky Henderson has admitted that the soft ground at Kempton could play against Riverside Theatre in Saturday's rearranged William Hill King George at Kempton.

After clerk of the course Barney Clifford revealed the ground looked set to ride soft at the weekend Henderson voiced his concerns and with almost all of Riverside Theatre’s top form coming on a sounder surface the trainer commented:  "I'm worried the ground has gone against Riverside Theatre. He's in great form and on good ground I would be really keen”

While the ground could be an issue for one of Henderson’s runners, there are other reasons to worry for another as Long Run prepares to line up in the Grade One showpiece.

The Feltham winner was a winner on testing ground earlier in his career and Henderson fears that it could be the race’s rearrangement that proves a problem for his French import:  "He has been around Auteuil enough times so he shouldn't have a problem with soft ground and we're all looking forward to it," added Henderson.

"The only issue with him is he was trained for December 26. Getting him to the boil is one thing, but keeping him simmering is another."
