Talented Grade One-winning hurdler Hurricane Fly is set for his eagerly anticipated return to action in the Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

Willie Mullins’s classy French recruit has not been seen since landing the Punchestown Champion Hurdle, a race that saw the re-opposing Solwhit go down by just a neck to the six-year-old.

The bookies believe that Solwhit will turn the form around on Sunday, but there will be many people just relieved to see Hurricane Fly back on the racecourse as punters continue to dream about a clash between he and Nicky Henderson’s Binocular at next year's Cheltenham Festival.

Talking about his returning hurdler and the fact he will step up in trip on Sunday, Mullins explained:  "The Hatton's Grace is the plan with Hurricane Fly and the trip shouldn't be a problem. As a four-year-old in France, he was running over two and a half miles.  We have worked him on the Flat last week and he went well, so we will see how he is this week, and hopefully go to Fairyhouse.”

The opposition to Hurricane Fly and Solwhit is set to be formidable and Noel Meade will saddle Aitmatov and Donnas Palm in the big race, explaining: "Donnas Palm has been very consistent but it will be very competitive for him, but he beat Aitmatov at Tipperary in October.

"Since then Aitmatov was a bit unlucky when he fell at Navan, where Oscar Dan Dan won. We will probably meet him again so it should be interesting and we will take our chance on Sunday.”
