Gamilati could return to action in Oak Tree Stakes

A strong field of 20 has been left in the Group Three Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on Friday, including UAE Guineas winner Gamilati.

Gamilati of Mahmood Al Zarooni may finally get to the racetrack after victory in the UAE Guineas in Meydan in the spring marked this filly down as an exciting talent.

She had taken the Cherry Hinton at Newmarket last summer and this looks like a good reintroduction to British racing.

There may well be a royal runner with Richard Hannon's Free Verse set to take her place after a mixed bag of results this year. Victory at Newmarket was followed by a disappointing fourth in a Listed contest at Ascot and she has yet to prove she is up to Group level.

Gracia Directa is an interesting contender for Germany having won her last three contests. Two wins in her homeland was followed by victory in the Summer Stakes at York on her British debut and connections will be hopeful of taking another prize here

Gracia Directa's success seems to have encouraged more German participants as Dessau and Survey both hold entries for the Oak Tree Stakes.

Kevin Condon's Marvada won a Group Three at Naas last time, but conditions at Goodwood should be very different for the four-year-old filly.

Mick Channon has entered Jaber Abdullah's Show Flower here, and the Shamardal filly is looking for a five-timer. A maiden success was followed by three handicaps won in quite comfortable fashion, but none of her victories to date were over this seven furlong trip.

Sandringham fifth Pimpernel, high-class juvenile Regal Realm, and Terry Clement's seven-year-old Sos Brillante who has been keeping some very smart company are other interesting possibles.
