A seven-race card awaits us at Musselburgh on Friday afternoon where the advance going is forecast ‘Good, Good to Firm in places‘. The first event is due under way at 200.

Race 1 (Musselburgh 200) – Only two places count in this opening maiden contest but we’re fairly confident that both Grievous Angel and Multisure will go close and see us safely through to the second event.

Race 2 (Musselburgh 230) – This is just a modest middle-distance affair and it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that the consistent but low-grade Schmooze will be in the thick of the action. Also selected is Luctor Emergo who seeks a four-timer and is one of the few others in form at present.

Race 3 (Musselburgh 300) – Cosmic Chatter was only beaten by seven lengths in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot in June having made a fine winning debut at Haydock a few weeks before. The form looks strong and he is nominated as a banker selection.

Race 4 (Musselburgh 330) – Bradbury has a clear chance on his recent Newcastle third and along with course-and-distance winner Spruzzo is relied on to see us through to the penultimate leg.

Race 5 (Musselburgh 400) – Top weight Al Muheer missed out by a whisker at Thirsk at the weekend and along with bottom-weight Copperwood (from the flying Mark Johnston yard) has a big chance today.

Race 6 (Musselburgh 430) – Partner only narrowly failed in similar grade at Catterick last week and should be thereabouts while Go Go Green would have a proper chance if able to reproduce his best form.
