All eyes will be on Epsom on Saturday as Aidan O’Brien sends Camelot in search of victory in the 2012 Investec Derby.

CAMELOT (8/11, Paddy Power) looks like he could start the race as the shortest priced Derby favourite since Tudor Minstrel such is the weight of money that has been heaped on the shoulders of the 2000 Guineas hero.

The superstar will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record in the Group One showpiece and the vibes coming out of the Ballydoyle camp are that Camelot already has his name engraved on the Derby trophy.

Always held in high regard by connections, it isn’t hard to see why the market leader will start the race at such cramped odds and he looks a class apart from his Classic rivals on Saturday afternoon.

The Irish raider needed his sensational turn of foot to get himself out of trouble in the 2000 Guineas and racing fans will be hoping that jockey Joseph O’Brien keeps things a little more simple in the saddle at 4.00 on Saturday.

At Newmarket he was held at the back of the field and was given plenty to do on ground that was riding far from ideal.  Once the jockey managed to get him to the head of affairs there was no pulling him up and he looks sure to relish the step up to 1m4f on Saturday.

Camelot has always been a colt of the highest order and the Epsom Derby has been his plan for over a year now.  His facile debut success followed by his visually mesmerising performance in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster ensured he finished the season as the best of his generation and nothing seems to have changed in 2012.

He looks to be far too classy for his rivals and he can power to Derby glory and continue his trainer’s dominance in this season’s Classics.

If the 8/11 on offer isn’t too appealing, remember Betfred will double your odds on Camelot if he wins the race by four lengths or more.
