Dermot Weld backs Emulous to shine in 2012 Matron Stakes

Brilliant Irish trainer Dermot Weld is looking forward to letting loose stable star Emulous during the great Leopardstown Champions Stakes meeting on Saturday.

Weld has always had an autumn campaign in mind for his filly who has won four races from her last five outings although she flopped last time.

Weld is hoping the ground at Leopardstown doesn't dry out too much as he believes a little give will ensure his star is seen at her very best.

He said: "She really is a very good filly and the idea was always to give her an autumn campaign. She has won Group Ones and Group Threes and I believe she will excite this weekend."

Weld excuses her last run where she was seventh at Royal Ascot because he believes the ground was "a bit too quick for her". He is expecting better of her at the big meeting this week.

He added: "We really are looking forward to seeing her in action and it could be the start of an exciting end to the season for us and her."

Emulous is 3.50 to win the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown, while Maybe can be backed at 7.00 and La Collina at 21.00.
