Fame heads 13 left in Investec Derby

A total of 13 horses have been left in the Investec Derby at the five-day stage and Fame and Glory is the 11/4 favourite with totesport for the Epsom classic.

Aidan O’Brien’s colt has been vying for favouritism with Sea The Stars since his impressive win in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown and is one of six horses left in the race by trainer Aidan O’Brien.

Sea The Stars is next in the market at 3/1 followed by the O’Brien-trained pair of Rip Van Winkle and Black Bear Island who are available at 5/1 and 8/1 respectively. Last year’s Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House is a 25/1 shot but his participation in the race has yet to be confirmed.

‘There’s been a fascinating tussle at the head of the market between Fame And Glory and Sea The Stars over the past couple of weeks but if Johnny Murtagh chooses to ride the former over Rip Van Winkle, then it’s fairly safe to say it will be the Derrinstown winner that will go off favourite,’ totesport spokesman George Primarolo told Bettingpro this afternoon.

totesport have also announced that they are non-runner, no bet on the Investec Derby from Monday morning onwards.
