One time 2009 2000 Guineas and Epsom Derby favourite Crowded House has been ruled out of the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes as connections mull the idea of running the colt again this season.

After running out an impressive winner of the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster last year, he returned to the track this season when a well beaten favourite in the Dante Stakes at York.  Many people wrote him off after that race but he returned to something like his best when he finished a creditable sixth in the Derby at Epsom.

Trainer Brian Meehan was eyeing a tilt at Newmarket’s Group 1 showpiece on October 17, but he has been ruled out of the contest.

Jamie McCalmont, racing manager to part-owner Paul Reddam, said: "He's not going to be ready for the Champion Stakes but he will remain at Manton and we will see how it goes."

Crowded House had been available at 21.00 (Betfair) for the race, while Zacinto was the favourite for the race at 4.4, before the market was suspended.
